Abiding
Savior News and Notes
Bible Study –
I’ll be starting a Bible around the beginning of October for those who are
interested. It’ll start with an overview of the whole bible, what it’s all
about, how it got to be, etc. Then we’ll focus primarily on the Gospels,
looking at the life and ministry of Jesus.
I’ll be looking for 8 people or so total. Be open to the possibility at
some point after the bible study is over, that you might use this to lead
something within the life of the church. I already have 3 people, so if
you are interested, please let me know as soon as you can.
Interested in Workshops??
Partners in Faith/Partners in Vision (PiF/PiV)
–
I’m reminding you about, and inviting you again to, the PiF-PiV conference
Saturday, the 29th of September from 9AM to 5 PM. It’s being
held this year at First Lutheran church in Ellicott City. See the
registration sheets I’ll have set up for this at church this Sunday. Or
you can call me and we’ll see what we can do about getting the registration
forms to you. It’s about $40 to go. There are three sessions where you
can pick one workshop to go to each session. These workshops range from
leadership to evangelism, to worship, to discipleship issues, etc. They
are very interesting and informative.
If you’d like to go… please let me know!

If you never got the Owner’s Manual when your kids were born, or you had one but
lost it, and were interested in knowing how your teen “works”, here’s one for
you...

The Smile Train –
This organization is composed primarily of medical personnel that do free facial
reconstructive surgeries for people born with a cleft pallet. It’s not a
very complicated surgery, but there are a lot of children overseas whose
families are not able to access and/or afford this surgery for their children.
If you are interested on donating I’ll have some photo copies of the paper with
all the information you’ll need at church on the counter by the bulletin board.
More later…

Wheat-and-Gluten-Free Bread
We are providing wheat-and-gluten-free bread in Holy Communion in addition to
our regular loaf of bread.
Wheat and gluten intolerance is a growing problem among many in our society.
Many cannot eat bread made with wheat or anything containing wheat or gluten
without grave digestive problems, and in some cases, even death.
In an effort to remain sensitive to our members' health concerns, Abiding Savior
is now offering a bread alternative, just as it offers alcohol-free wine (grape
juice) as an alternative to regular wine. Please make your preference known to
him as he serves the bread.
Please remember that the alcohol-free grape juice is in cups in the center of
the tray while the wine is in the chalice and in cups around the edge of the
tray.
Stay healthy!
